Another METRONET project has been checked off the list with the official opening of the METRONET Lakelands Station.

The new station is a welcome addition to the Mandurah Line, taking pressure off nearby Mandurah and Warnbro stations, while also reducing congestion on roads, and providing passengers with a 50-minute commute to the CBD.

Lakelands is also supported by an enhanced bus network, connecting surrounding suburbs to the new station.

A community event was held at the station to mark its opening which included children’s entertainers, face painting, live music, giveaways, and a sausage sizzle.

The station has two marginal platforms connected by a pedestrian overpass, an eight-bay bus interchange, and a 400-bay passenger car park, and supported about 200 jobs since works began in November 2021.
