A 16-hectare site within the METRONET Ballajura Station Precinct will be proposed as the home of Western Australia’s first dedicated screen production facility.
Located off Marshall Road to the south of Whiteman Park, the site has been selected for its access to future public transport through the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line Project, proximity to the Perth CBD and airport, scale of available land and direct access to major roads for travel to the State’s regional areas.
The screen production facility project is currently progressing through the State Government’s proposal process, which includes site investigations, final design and planning applications. A Creative Industries Hub at Victoria Quay’s E Shed in Fremantle will also be considered as part of the proposal.
The project is part of the State Government’s investment in WA’s creative industries to diversify the economy through film, TV and screen projects in Western Australia.
If approved, works to build the facility are expected to commence in late-2023 and will generate significant job opportunities for the State’s creative industry when it opens.
The precinct plan aims to guide the long-term planning of future roads, community facilities, schools, public spaces and land use in the area around allajura Station, creating a community in the growing north-east that benefits the local economy, and fuels employment opportunities in the area.
