The Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal community drop-in session took place on Tuesday February 20. More than 105 community members attended to learn about the project and revitalisation plans for Kelmscott.
The removal of the level crossing on Denny Avenue is the first project taking place as part of METRONET’s level crossing removal program.
The community living in Kelmscott and surrounding suburbs were keen to find out more about how the Denny Avenue level crossing would be permanently closed, and how the new underpass and surrounding roads would function.
Many people are looking forward to seeing a decrease the risky behaviour and associated danger the crossing currently brings to Kelmscott. Project team members were on hand to answer questions and assure the community that the level crossing would remain open at all times during the construction period.
Numerous feedback forms were received on the night with a range of comments from the community on roads, traffic and train operations.
As the project progresses more community engagement sessions will be held to ensure the community is kept up to date with what is planned.
