Seeking builders for Lakelands Station

  • 4 May 2020

The search has started for a contractor to design and construct Lakelands Station with the Request for Proposal released to market today.

The competitive early contract involvement process will lead to a design and construct contract for METRONET’s new station at Lakelands, including a bus interchange and car park.

Lakelands Station will sit between Warnbro and Mandurah stations, which are currently 23 kilometres apart. The station will help ease the growing demand for public transport in the southern suburbs as well as take pressure off Mandurah and Warnbro stations by reducing the need to travel significant distances to access train services.

Lakelands Station will be built with access off Lake Valley Drive. Features will include two platforms, park and ride and kiss and ride facilities, bus interchange and cycling facilities.

At the conclusion of the expression of interest period, two proponents will be chosen to competitively create a more detailed submission.

The project is jointly funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments, with 80 per cent funding coming from the Commonwealth. Construction will start in early 2021 and the station is expected to be operational in 2023.
