In the most significant milestone for the project to date, MELconnx Consortium have signed the contract to build the Morley-Ellenbrook Line.
The 21 kilometre line is METRONET’s largest rail project and will spur off the Midland Line at Bayswater Station, run down the middle of Tonkin Highway, up through land north of Marshall Road, along the western side of the new Lord Street and finish in Ellenbrook town centre.
Once operational, future passengers will enjoy more transport choice with the option of travelling to Perth, the airport, and other stations on the Midland Line, not to mention connections to other stations along the Perth network from Yanchep to Lakelands.
The Premier, Minister for Transport and local members joined around 65 community members at a pop-up event in the town centre to celebrate the exciting project milestone.
Early works are already underway on both the Bayswater Station Upgrade. where the Morley-Ellenbrook Line will spur off, and the Main Roads WA Tonkin Gap project, which includes significant civil and structural works between Bayswater and Ballajura to allow rail access in and out of the Tonkin Highway.
Trains are expected to be operational in late 2024.
