The METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line has reached some major milestones over the past months and is set to start servicing passengers later this year.
One of these milestones is the completion of Malaga Station, which is not only looking ship shape but is also being renamed Ballajura Station.
The station is one of five stations being delivered as part of the project and has been renamed to better reflect its location and the large community to the west of Tonkin Highway.
Ballajura Station will be a 21-minute journey to Perth and will connect the suburbs of Landsdale, Alexander Heights, Ballajura, Malaga, and Bennett Springs. With convenient and modern facilities, the station will include a 12-stand bus interchange and 1,100 parking bays.
The Malaga footbridge will also be renamed the Ballajura Footbridge and will provide safe access for pedestrians and cyclists from the residential areas west of Tonkin Highway to Ballajura Station.
The next key event for the 21km Morley-Ellenbrook Line will be line electrification in late August, after which we will begin to test trains. An education campaign is being delivered to ensure communities in the area are aware of the danger of electrification, high speed trains and general safety around live rail.
