Soaring to new heights this Super June

  • 5 June 2024

Super June is here – and what an exciting period it is for the METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project as we make rapid progress on some major milestones, including:

  • Elevated rail progress: 75 per cent of the concrete structures for the elevated rail between Victoria Park and Beckenham have been installed
  • Gantry cranes: will be lifted and relocated along Railway Parade between Treasure Road and George Street in Queens Park to continue installing elevated rail north of Queen Park Station
  • L-beams: will be lifted over Water Corporation assets during the closure of Sevenoaks Street in Beckenham
  • Hamilton Street Crossing: elevated rail will be lifted over the Hamilton Street crossing during the closure of Hamilton Street between Railway Parade and Sevenoaks Street
  • Welshpool Road Crossing: elevated rail and shared path bridge will be lifted over Welshpool Road during the closure between Sevenoaks Street and Rutland Avenue/Railway Parade.

Elevated rail-over-road is already in place at Mint/Archer Street, Oats Street, Wharf Street and William Street level crossings, enhancing safety and reducing congestion.

All new stations are now also under construction, bringing us closer to a more modern and efficient rail network.
