It was up, up and away at Carlisle Station on Monday, 5 February with the very first L-beams for the new elevated rail carefully lifted into place.
The L-beams form part of the 4.3km-long concrete viaduct structure being built as part of the Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project.
More than 530 precast L-beams and 180 piers form part of the structure required to support the rail track.
Elevated rail significantly improves safety and convenience for commuters and drivers, while eliminating the noise of warning bells and train horns at level crossings.
