There’s nothing like a hive of activity to bring a new station to life and Eglinton Station along the METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension Project has been abuzz with activity to build the station concourse.
More than 60 concrete planks and stressed steel strands were recently installed to form the foundation of the station. With these in place, the team poured the concrete topping slab to create the floor for the concourse level.
“This is an exciting milestone as the concourse level will welcome passengers to the station and will also house the toilet block, staff room, electrical room and stores,” NEWest Project Manager Michael Iodine said.
“With the concourse slab down, we can begin installing 215 tonnes of structural steel elements and we will soon see the shell of the station emerge.”
Located east of Marmion Avenue and south of Pipidinny Road, when operational Eglinton Station will offer passengers a 46-minute journey to Perth.
