Work on the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link is ramping up with preparations underway for the 20-day Mandurah Line Shutdown.
The Mandurah Line will close from Aubin Grove to Elizabeth Quay stations from first service on Sunday 26 December until last service on Friday 14 January 2022.
The shutdown is required to shift the Mandurah Line tracks further apart, with works occurring 24 hours a day, to enable the new Thornlie-Cockburn Link tracks to be built in between them.
Commuters are encouraged to plan ahead by allowing extra travel time on public transport and roads, and by visiting Transperth if taking public transport for the latest updates.
Some changes along the Kwinana Freeway southbound between Berrigan Drive and Armadale Road are also required to facilitate the shutdown.
The Thornlie-Cockburn Link will be Perth's first east-west cross line connection, linking the Mandurah and Armadale lines and making travel through the south-eastern suburbs quicker.
