Public space designs informed by community

  • 21 June 2023

The community has provided feedback about the look, feel and function of public spaces surrounding the rail line and stations within the METRONET Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal Project, helping to shape unique designs that focus on safety, activation, movement and the natural environment.

Throughout the design phase we listened carefully to community priorities for public space and learnt what’s most important to the community.

Gathering feedback on the ground, the team spoke with students at Beckenham Primary School about what they'd like to see in public spaces near Beckenham Station.

Community pop-ups also help inform feedback on the public space designs, including a recent visit to Victoria Park and Beckenham to speak with community members.

The designs for Carlisle and Oats Street stations and public spaces have been finalised, with the development application supported by the Town of Victoria Park and approved by the WA Planning Commission.

Applications for Queens Park, Cannington and Beckenham stations will be submitted in the coming weeks. Community members will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the concepts during the public comment period.
