Another exciting milestone has been reached for the Thornlie-Cockburn Link and Yanchep Rail Extension with METROconnex and NEWest announced as the shortlisted consortia to build the two major METRONET projects.
Combined, the projects are expected to create 3000 jobs and will be delivered under a single alliance contract which maximises efficiencies and generates savings.
The consortia proceeding to the next stage of the tender process to provide a detailed bid indicating how they plan to construct the two projects, compromises of:
- CONSORTIUM ONE: METROconnex (Coleman Rail, Clough & Georgiou Group)
- CONSORTIUM TWO: NEWest Alliance (CPB Contractors and Downer)
The successful consortium to deliver the work will be announced late 2019.
The 17.5km Thornlie-Cockburn Link will give Perth’s eastern and southern suburbs residents more transport options for better travel to local jobs than the existing rail links currently provide.
The Yanchep Rail Extension is a 14.5km Joondalup Line extension from Butler to Yanchep. New train stations will be built at Alkimos, Eglinton and Yanchep servicing the growing population in Perth’s northern corridor.
