Ellenbrook Station is complete!

  • 5 March 2024

The new Ellenbrook Station was unveiled earlier this week, making it the first of five to be completed as part of the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line Project.

A whopping 346 tonnes of steel and 1,160 tonnes of concrete were used to build the new station, which is located in the heart of Ellenbrook and will provide residents with an approximate 30-minute train journey into Perth.

The only at-grade (built at-ground level) station on the Morley-Ellenbrook Line, Ellenbrook Station features a 150-metre-long sheltered island platform with convenient and modern facilities including seating, accessible passenger information and facilities, 12 bus stands and 500 parking bays including ACROD.

Final landscaping and installation of the faregates will complete the station. Works are also well underway on Morley, Noranda, Ballajura and Whiteman Park stations with the installation of overhead line equipment, ballast, rail and sleepers.

Passenger facilities are complimented with public art by local and Noongar artists. This includes glass skylights by Whadjuk, Dallardong and Yamariji artist Marcia McGuire and Australian designer Penelope Forlano; metal arbour screens by Kambarni and Marcia McGuire, and a Bidi mural by Nathan Corunna and Darren Hutchens.

The Noongar place name for Ellenbrook Station is ‘Karla Nara’ the meaning ‘Firestick farming or consumption (eating) by fire’.
