Full steam ahead preparing for construction of the Morley-Ellenbrook Line

  • 3 November 2020

Works are officially under way on the Tonkin Gap project which will undertake enabling works for the Morley-Ellenbrook Line, in the median of Tonkin Highway and underneath the Reid Highway and Tonkin Highway interchanges.

The Morley-Ellenbrook Line starts at Bayswater Station on the Midland Line and will travel in the centre of Tonkin Highway, before entering land north of Marshall Road. Works delivered under Tonkin Gap contract includes building two underpasses with dive structures, to allow trains to enter Tonkin Highway and then exit before the new Ballajura Station.

The contract will also build new road and bus bridges at Broun Avenue, including a bus interchange station, to provide access to the future Morley Station.

The Morley-Ellenbrook Line rail enabling works will be complete in late 2022, and the full Tonkin Gap project is expected to be complete in late 2023.

MELconnx Consortium have signed the contract to build the Morley-Ellenbrook Line and trains are expected to be running in late 2024.

The Morley-Ellenbrook Line team are popping-up at shopping centres along the alignment over the next few weeks. Find out where we’ll be here.
