The METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line Project is encouraging more girls into STEM courses at university and STEM-focused careers through Laing O'Rourke's Inspiring STEM+ Programme.
Students from Ellenbrook Christian College learned how to minimise environmental impacts in major infrastructure projects. They also built model aquifers to understand the importance of the Gnangara groundwater and how environmental management ensures its protection during works.
Environmental management also includes habitat and wildlife protection. During an animal handling session, students met some scaly Western Australian locals.
The Morley-Ellenbrook Line Project is the largest expansion of the Perth rail network in more than a decade and will support approximately 6,500 jobs, with about 27% of the current project workforce being female.
